🌿 Running Energy: How to Use Earth and Cosmic Energy to Cleanse, Recharge, and Come Home to Yourself

Have you ever finished a long day feeling drained, disconnected, or just a little off — even when nothing obviously went wrong?

One of the most powerful things you can do for yourself is run your energy — a gentle, breathing-based practice that invites two of the most natural forces in the universe — Earth energy and Cosmic energy — to move through your body, clear out what doesn’t belong, and leave you feeling refreshed, grounded, and deeply at peace.

I usually practice this right after grounding. Together, they are one of the most calming and clarifying things I know.

🌍 Part One: Running Earth Energy

Begin by sitting comfortably, with your feet flat on the floor.

Slowly breathe in through your nose.

As you inhale, imagine nice, clean Earth energy rising up from deep in the ground — flowing up through the chakras in the bottoms of your feet, up through your ankles, through your knees, your thighs, and all the way back into your hips and into your 1st chakra (your Root chakra, located at the base of your spine).

Now slowly exhale through your mouth.

As you exhale, allow that Earth energy to flow back down through your grounding cord — all the way to the center of the Earth, taking with it any energy that is no longer serving you.

Breathe in. Earth energy rises. Breathe out. It releases down.

Why this matters: Running Earth energy helps you feel more comfortable in your body and more aware of your surroundings. It gently releases unwanted energy from your 1st chakra and lower body. Many people notice a warm feeling of comfort in their stomach and lower back, as well as improved circulation in their feet and legs.

🌌 Part Two: Running Cosmic Energy

Once your Earth energy is flowing, it is time to invite Cosmic energy in.

Slowly breathe in through your nose.

As you inhale, reach way up into the sky — above the clouds, above the atmosphere — and allow beautiful, clean Cosmic energy to flow down into the crown of your head, down your neck, and slowly down your spine, all the way to your tailbone.

As it travels down your spine, it gently cleanses each chakra along the way — clearing, brightening, and refreshing each one as it passes.

Now exhale slowly.

As you breathe out, allow the Cosmic energy to make a gentle U-turn — flowing back up through your stomach, your chest, and into your neck and throat.

At this point, allow about 15% of the Cosmic energy to flow down each shoulder, down your arms, and out through your fingertips — carrying with it any energy that isn’t yours.

💡 This part is especially important. We pick up a lot of other people’s energy when we use a computer, scroll our phone, or even shake someone’s hand. Running energy through your arms and out your fingertips is a beautiful way to release what you have unconsciously collected throughout the day.

After the energy flows out through your fingertips, allow the remaining Cosmic energy in your neck and throat to gently flow up and out through the top of your head.

💛 The Beautiful Moment That Follows

By now, most people feel very light, very calm — almost as if they are floating in a quiet, peaceful space. This is a state of oneness — where your spirit and your body are working together in harmony.

This is where I love to say, quietly and gently, to myself:

“Hello, Spirit. Hello, Body. I love my Spirit. I love my Body. I don’t have to change for anyone. I can be just the way I am. I love me. I love me, Benson.” (Say your own name here.)

🌸 Why “I Love Me” — Not “I Love You”

Most of us grew up being taught to say “I love you” to others. But very few of us were ever taught to say “I love me” to ourselves.

Here is why this matters so deeply:

When you depend on someone else to say “I love you,” your sense of being loved becomes conditional. If that person doesn’t say it, you may feel unimportant, unseen, or not enough.

But when you say “I love me” — with your own voice, to yourself — something shifts.

You are no longer waiting. You are no longer depending on someone else to validate you. You become your own source of love.

This is the most important love of all: Self-Love — in the gentlest, most honoring way.

When I guide people through this part of the practice, many are moved to tears. Not because they are sad — but because they are finally feeling seen, valued, and loved — by themselves. It is like opening a door that has always been there, but has never been fully opened.

🌿 A Simple Summary of the Full Practice

  1. Ground yourself — send a grounding cord from your 1st chakra to the center of the Earth
  2. Run Earth energy — breathe it up through your feet, legs, and hips; release it down on the exhale
  3. Run Cosmic energy — breathe it in from above, down your spine, through each chakra; let it flow back up and out through the top of your head
  4. Clear your arms — allow 15% of the Cosmic energy to flow out through your fingertips
  5. Affirm yourself — “I love my Spirit. I love my Body. I love me. I love me, (your name).”

You don’t need to do this perfectly. You just need to begin.

Even a few minutes each morning — or whenever you feel scattered, heavy, or disconnected — can make a noticeable difference in how you feel, how you move through your day, and how gently you treat yourself.

If this practice resonates with you, or if you would like to experience it in a private session, I would love to connect with you.
